The 2020 Kia Telluride entered the market last year and quickly caught the eye of both consumers and the automotive press. It was named Utility Vehicle of the Year by numerous associations and publications. The new 2020 Kia Telluride stands out by offering its clients an impressive level of luxury without the cost. It gives you more for less, which is its greatest asset against its competitors, including the 2020 Volkswagen Atlas, another mid-size SUV with three rows of seats. The Volkswagen Atlas is considered refined and more luxurious than average.

The Kia Telluride is bold enough to offer plenty of luxury and value at a lower price point. Although the 2020 Kia Telluride is more expensive on paper than the Volkswagen Atlas, the difference is not as great as you think. The new Telluride is offered starting at $44,995 in an EX version while the Volkswagen Atlas with all-wheel drive is offered starting at $40,540. If you take a look at the monthly cost, however, you’ll see that the difference for a 60-month lease is only $100. Moreover, Kia has incredible financing plans that make the Telluride even more affordable.

This is where you’ll notice the added value of the 2020 Kia Telluride, which is more luxurious and better equipped than the Atlas while being more efficient and spacious. Let's take a closer look.

To start, the 2020 Kia Telluride is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 developing 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque paired with 8-speed automatic transmission. The Atlas V6 engine offers 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Despite the superior power of the 2020 Telluride, the new Kia SUV is more fuel-efficient than the Atlas. The latter has an average fuel consumption rating of 13.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 10.2 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway while the 2020 Kia Telluride consumes on average 12.5 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway. In other words, the Telluride may be slightly more expensive to buy but will save you money in the long run at the pump.

Finally, the new 2020 Kia Telluride offers a little more space (601 litres) with all seats in place compared to the Atlas (583 litres) in addition to offering 8 seats instead of 7 in the Volkswagen.
